Our digital mammography and biopsy equipment, as well as the entire facility, is certified by the American College of Radiology in addition to the New York State Department of Health.
Our technologists are licensed by the State of New York and registered by the American Registry of Radiology Technicians. They are highly trained professionals, skillful not only as mammography technologists but also in their ability to work with our patients to help reduce any anxieties during the mammogram.
When coming to our office, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire which covers not only basic demographic information, but also your medical history. This form needs to be updated each time you come to our office; not only the personal information, but also the specific details of your medical history and any new problems that may have arisen since your last visit.
You will then be escorted by one of our technologists to a changing room, and then to have your mammogram. The films are then reviewed by Dr. Tuvia. Many times, the technologist will call you back into the mammogram room to obtain additional views. This means that clarification is needed for one of more of the images due to overlapping breast tissue that needs to be compressed.
If a breast sonogram (ultrasound) has been requested by your physician, or is recommended by one of the doctors, it will be performed by Dr. Tuvia.
You will meet with Dr. Tuvia to review your medical history, perform a breast exam, discuss the mammogram/sonogram results, and make recommendations for future follow up. If any further work up is necessary, such as a biopsy, it can usually be performed on the same day, or at your convenience.
You will be given the results of your examination at the time of your visit.
